My Garden- In Memory of Liam and Evelynn

Working on this garden is what helped me get through July. The garden consists of mostly pinks and yellows. The yellows for Liam and the pinks for Evelynn. I love daisies so I had to plant some Shasta Daisies for them as well.

I can't wait to add these to the garden next summer!
One day I hope we will be able to add a few more rocks, with the names of our take home babies on them, to the garden.
Primula
One of the Astilbes
Two more Astilbes and some ferns
Evelynn's Pink Beauty Potentilla and Liam's yellow Potentilla.
My fence line full of Shasta Daisies
Two Bleeding Hearts. Hopefully they will look amazing next spring.
Liam's bucket's. I just love them!
My beautiful Mother's Day bench from my amazing Alaskan family.
I love this bench!
My ambition to make this garden, that is far from finished, I believe came solely from my desire to have a place in my backyard to remember my babies. The reason I chose to make it go along the fence line is my hope that one day I will have kids that can play in the backyard. They will be surrounded by the flowers I planted for their big brother and sister in heaven.

This was my first attempt at a perennial garden. I really hope they come back next year. Next summer I plan to plant more flowers for my babies down the right side of the fence line, add lots of Forget-me-nots, and hopefully have a tree planted in that empty left corner.

  8. I love everything about the garden you've started for Liam and Evelynn! Those stones are amazing as is that awesome bench. The flowers and colors are so perfect! Other than the tree we planted for our son who we lost last year, we're putting in bulbs for the twins that we lost this year, so it will be nothing but dirt until next summer ...

  10. it is beautiful! We made a garden for Cale. My mom, who is an avid gardener, helped me and she told me upfront to not take it personal if some things did not come back the following season. It's good advice because we pour our hearts into these projects and want them perfect for our babies. But they are plants and sometimes can be fickle regardless of how much love you put into them.

So I hope that your plants to bloom beautiful next year and if not, there are many more that can be planted in memory of your special babies.

  12. Love the bench and the garden. I second Caroline's comment. I was so worried about planting something in memory of Eliza because what would it mean if it died? What would I do? I had to take a step back and trust that something would grow or we would replant but either way it was a tribute to our girl.
