The Bet And The Blue Man Group

Around the 4th month of my pregnancy a good friend of mine told me that she has had too many friends say that they still planned on getting out after their baby was born, but that once the child was actually born they never did. She said these people would never want to hang out anymore saying that they didn't want to be an inconvenience because they had a baby and they wouldn't even go out by themselves and let her babysit.
So she decided she was going to make Dereck and I a bet. For the bet she would pay us $50 if she would be able to babysit Liam for at least 5 hours one night within the first 6 months after he was born and if we failed on that then we would owe her $50 instead. We agreed to the bet joking that she might as well hand over the money now.
A few weeks later we had heard the Blue Man Group was coming to town and bought tickets to go. I immediately informed my friend that if Liam's due date was correct then she would be babysitting a 1 month old and owing us $50.
This bet of course was made before we got the diagnosis of Liam's Spina Bifida and also before we new we would be having the fetal surgery and that he would be delivered out of state. What we did know at this point is that she was going to owe us $50.

Well Wednesday night was the night that Dereck and I went to see the Blue Man Group perform. The show was really good and we laughed a lot, but there was no baby to be sat and no bet to be won. :(

  2. You're friend is so kind to make such an offer... so sorry that she couldn't babysit for you. I find these kind of 'milestones' the hardest sometimes... love to you always xoxo
