The Fundraiser

I went to a fundraiser for a family last night whose daughter passed away about a year ago. The lady was doing the fundraiser in honor of her daughter for an organization that helped her family while they weren't working to take care of their sick baby. I was happy to go and so proud of her for dedicating all of her spare time to put together this fundraiser and show her appreciation for what the organization did for her family. There was tons of food, silent and live auctions, and massages for raising money. I figured Dereck and I would stay for the whole event, but we ended up only being there for about an hour. I couldn't handle it. There were too many people, too much going on, and the lady in front of me in the silent auction line had a 2 week old baby. I almost lost it right there. Great event, great cause, but too many people, not to mention a bunch of the items on the auction were baby items. I am just not there yet and so I had to leave a lot earlier than expected.

  1. Aw, I think your reactions were justified, a 2 week old would have about done me in.

  2. Sounds like a great cause but completely understandable that you couldn't stay... you made it there to show your support and that's a great achievement in itself... be gentle on yourself. Love to you always xoxo

  3. You went and showed your support, and that is great! The amount of time you stayed is less important. Be kind to yourself (that is what I keep telling myself to do, but it is so hard!!). We all have limits, right? Babies are my kryptonite right now. I can't touch them, look at them, think about them. It's too hard. We all understand. Take care of you.
